Friends of A2I2,
The A2I2 project is taking shape and making good progress in the New Year. The last few weeks have seen a whirlwind of activity, successful workshops and decision-making. Since the first workshop in San Diego on the 29th of December, Peter Voss has given four others, including one workshop in Los Angeles and one in the Bay area.
We now have funding for the bulk of the Phase-1 objectives, the core team is assembled and coding has begun!
Premises are secured, to serve as offices and living quarters for some of the team, in a surprisingly quiet area minutes from LAX. The proximity of the jets is a welcome visual delight, but is seldom an auditory distraction. Shane Legg, formerly of Webmind, and just back from 6 months of traveling in Africa and Europe, has joined the team from his home in New Zealand. Steve Dotson, on rather short notice, coaxed his nearly antique Isuzu Trooper 2500 miles from North Carolina to join the company. He and Shane are currently residing in the new home/office and affectionately refer to the temporary space as the "AI Kommune".
Other members of the team include the irrepressible David Braginsky who is completing his computer studies at UCLA. David is postponing his graduate studies at a top university to become involved with the project full-time. Ben Boronow, an experienced programmer, is commuting from nearby Mission Viejo to help us create intelligence. In addition, we are expecting two more bright futurists joining us from Canada within a few weeks.
We are fortunate to have received help from many friends including Andrew Breese, Carolyn Ray, Farsam Shadab, Jeanie Novak, Louise Gold, Troy Gardener, and others. We appreciate what you have done, as well all ongoing assistance.
Please let us know if you wish to be more involved in the project or know of someone who could be interested. (If you have already contacted us about part-time/ remote work: we'll get back to you in about four weeks – once the core team fully settles in.)
